The Cities and Towns Conference 2013 in Geneva was a good place to find out. The good news is that there were lots of ideas for how cities can grapple with the complexity that austerity brings across city-wide services and systems. And, it was encouraging to see that single, ‘silver bullet’ solutions appeared a thing of the past. It seems everyone now recognises that to have best effect, cities need integrated, workable strategies.

There were lots on offer in the way of assistance from Europe but very few UK cities seeming to take advantage. We think they may be missing a trick….
